Be Bold - Break the Mold Application

Be Bold - Break the Mold (BB-BM) is a mentoring program designed to support women (and nonbinary individuals) entering nontraditional career fields in Computer Science/IT/Data Science, Pre-Engineering, Construction, Criminal Justice/Police Science, and the Trades. A $1000 stipend will be awarded to students who complete all program requirements (payments will be dispersed at the end of each semester in 2 payments of $500).

A limited number of stipends are available. Applications will close on September 11th at 5pm. Interviews must be completed by September 23rd at 5pm. The program begins September 24th with a welcome/orientation.

Requirements

To be considered for this program, you must:

Be enrolled at HTC/NHCC in a nontraditional major: computer science/IT/data science, pre-engineering, construction management/building inspection, criminal justice/police science & the trades.
Identify as female or nonbinary (open to all regardless of gender identity)
Be motivated to complete all program requirements*

Program requirements include:

Interview with the Program Lead at your institution after completing the application
Program entrance and exit surveys
Acceptance and periodic check-ins with Program Lead
1:1 monthly meetings with your mentor are required and are to be initiated by the student.
Participation in all Be Bold- Break the Mold Empowerment Speaker Series (typically held 1-2 Thursday evenings/month from 6-7:30pm)

*We remain flexible to work around student schedules and individual needs.

By submitting this application, I affirm all the facts set forth are true and complete. I also understand that if selected to receive the Be Bold - Break the Mold stipend, I will be asked to participate in all program activities. (We remain flexible to work around student schedules and individual needs.) Stipends will be released to the students at the end of each semester in $500 increments for a total of $1000 if all program requirements have been met.

*Students must check with Financial Aid prior to enrolling in Be Bold to determine if the Be Bold stipend will affect their Financial Aid.
